ARX Robotics and DEUTZ Deliver First Ulm-Built GEREON UGVs to Ukraine

The first unmanned ground systems left the production line only 12 weeks after the two German companies began their joint manufacturing ramp-up.
ARX Robotics and DEUTZ have delivered the first GEREON unmanned ground systems manufactured at DEUTZ’s plant in Ulm, Germany, to Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
The delivery was completed 12 weeks after the companies announced the launch of joint production. According to ARX Robotics, the systems form part of a larger contract and will augment a GEREON fleet already operating in Ukraine.
The programme brings together ARX Robotics’ experience in unmanned-system development, software and vehicle integration with DEUTZ’s established manufacturing processes, quality assurance and industrial production capacity. Production is expected to continue ramping up over the coming months.
The short transition from production launch to delivery is significant for Europe’s defence-manufacturing sector. Developers of unmanned systems frequently face a difficult step between producing limited numbers of prototypes and maintaining repeatable, quality-controlled output at an industrial site. The ARX–DEUTZ arrangement is intended to address that transition by placing GEREON production inside an existing German manufacturing operation.
GEREON is a modular unmanned ground-vehicle platform developed by Munich-based ARX Robotics. The company builds software-defined land systems and also develops Mithra OS, an operating environment intended to integrate autonomy, sensors and software across new and existing military vehicles.
Demand for unmanned ground vehicles has increased as armed forces seek to reduce personnel exposure during high-risk missions. Scalable manufacturing is therefore becoming as important as vehicle autonomy, payload integration and field performance.
The first Ulm-built systems represent the beginning of a wider production phase rather than the completion of the programme. ARX Robotics and DEUTZ have not disclosed the size of the delivered batch or the total contracted production volume.
