Creating Tomorrow’s Next-Generation Technologies Today

Are you planning to create tomorrow’s most complex and innovative new technologies? We can help make your vision a reality. Today, we proudly announce that our largest FPGA, the Virtex UltraScale+ VU19P, is now generally available and shipping in production volumes to many customers.

Xilinx pioneered emulation-class devices and tools almost a decade ago with the 28nm Virtex-7 2000T FPGA and the Vivado Design Suite. The 7V2000T FPGA more than doubled the logic capacity of any other FPGA on the market. We did it again at the 20nm node with the Virtex UltraScale VU440 FPGA. Now, we’re continuing our leadership with the 16nm Virtex UltraScale+ VU19P, our third-generation highest capacity FPGA.

The VU19P FPGA’s jaw dropping specs include 9 million system logic cells, 32 billion transistors, over 2,000 user I/Os, up to 80 serial transceivers – capable of carrying 4.5Tb/s aggregate bandwidth, and up to 1.5Tb/s of DDR4 memory bandwidth.

Key applications that will benefit from the VU19P FPGA, include:

Emulation

As complexity grows in ASICs and SoCs, especially with AI/ML ICs, extensive verification before tape-out is a must. The VU19P FPGA’s massive 9 million system logic cells enable customers to emulate and store state on larger designs with fewer components. The over 2,000 I/Os allow customers to interconnect many FPGAs to create emulation systems that scale from modest to very large deployments.

On top of that, we have over 10 years invested in design tools, IP and design flows that lead the market for emulation-class designs and devices. Our Vivado Design Suite and tools include features meant to accelerate our customers’ time-to-market, including automated design closure assistance, interactive design tuning, and remote multi-user real-time debug.

Prototyping

The high-performance UltraScale architecture enables accurate system modeling and fast verification of ever larger targeted designs. The VU19P FPGA enables scalability, debug, and real-world validation from IP to in-circuit peripherals, while our Vivado Design Suite and tools allow developers to implement custom features and begin software integration and testing in a VU19P-based prototyping environment years before the device under development is available.

Test and Measurement

The Test and Measurement markets are all about bleeding edge technologies and protocols. Before any new protocol or system is on the market, system vendors require test equipment for validating the new protocols and systems under development. The VU19P FPGA’s 9 million system logic cells allows test equipment vendors to create and deploy highly customized protocol and test logic that their customers need for validating their own next-generation equipment. With up to 80 transceivers, the VU19P FPGA enables higher port density test equipment that supports the latest interface standards when they first become available. Furthermore, lidless packaging provides superior thermal dissipation for easier cooling design and lower power costs.

The world needs new classes of advanced devices and applications. Why not take advantage of this FPGA giant? To learn more, check out www.xilinx.com/vu19p.
