Qualcomm and NetEase Announce Continued Collaboration to Lead the Innovation and Transformation of Mobile Gaming Experiences

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), and NetEase Games, a division of NetEase, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTES), announced that the companies plan to contin working together to advance mobile gaming to provide consumers with superior gaming experiences. Through this joint effort, both companies will continue to innovate, incubate, and conduct targeted research and development to transform mobile gaming experiences at large.

Through this collaboration, we can utilize our Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ mobile platforms and NetEase’s mobile gaming expertise to allow players to be truly immersed in console-grade mobile gaming experiences,” said Gang Sun, vice president, sales and product marketing, Qualcomm International (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. “We’re excited about the potential for this effort to transform the future of mobile gaming.”

NetEase has independently developed or published many hit mobile game titles in recent years, including Knives Out, Chu Liu Xiang and The Soul of Hunter, all of which achieved very good performance. In addition, the multithread advantages of Messiah, our in-house game engine, have significantly improved the performances of our games,” said Ethan (Yi) Wang, vice president, NetEase, Inc. “The effort will combine both parties’ strengths in technology, R&D and brand, and help us provide gaming enthusiasts with the most popular, most exciting gaming experiences. Moreover, this collaboration will allow us to create refreshing game entertainment experiences based on the more advanced future 5G networks for users as early as possible, through Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise in 5G technology.”

This joint effort between Qualcomm Technologies, its China subsidiaries, and NetEase Games is aimed to develop the next mobile entertainment ecosystem including bringing more feature rich graphics like HDR, real-time shadows, global illumination with Vulkan to provide best gaming and power performance. Previously, the companies worked together to optimize NetEase’s in-house game engine, Messiah, on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800-series mobile platforms, which helped improve the image quality and make game experiences more lifelike.
