element14 Community Launches ‘Bluetooth Unleashed’ Design Challenge

element14.com, the community for engineers, has launched a new Design Challenge called “Bluetooth Unleashed.” This latest challenge encourages designers and engineers to uniquely showcase the power of Bluetooth technology by building a prototype using one of ten top selling Bluetooth development boards and underscores the commitment of  Premier Farnell, the Development Distributor, to drive innovation and be a champion for makers and makers.

The Bluetooth Unleashed Design Challenge from Premier Farnell asks challengers to submit a project idea that harnesses the power of Bluetooth to inspire creativity and imagination. Projects can focus on anything from tracking pets, to multiplayer games and home automation. Challengers are encouraged to think creatively about how Bluetooth can be used to solve the problems facing them today.

“As connected devices continue to permeate our lives, we’re looking for innovative new project ideas that push the boundaries of Bluetooth technology,” said Dianne Kibbey, Global Head of Community and Social Media for the element14 community. “Through the Bluetooth Unleashed Design Challenge, we’re excited to see how designers, engineers, makers and even parents apply the limitless power of Bluetooth technology to improve our world.”

Designers can apply to participate in Bluetooth Unleashed today through March 21. On March 27, up to 20 challengers will be chosen to build their projects using selected products, including one “Hero” Board and a $150 credit to be used at Premier Farnell. The challengers will have 11 weeks to build their projects, and develop 10 blog posts sharing their progress with the element14 community. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges from Premier Farnell, Avnet, and the element14 community on originality, innovation and technical merit.

The first, second and third place winners for the ‘Bluetooth Unleashed’ design challenge will receive $2,000, $1,500, and $1,000 credits, respectively, at Newark element14 in North America, Farnell element14 in Europe and element14 in APAC.

Bluetooth Unleashed design challenge finishers will receive a signature finisher prize pack that includes a PocketBeagle® from BeagleBoard.org ®, Tenma Fume Extractor, Tenma Soldering Station and an element14 community backpack.
