Rohde & Schwarz T&M equipment for power electronics at EPEʹ17 ECCE in Warsaw

Rohde & Schwarz offers solutions for power electronics that support developers in the design of energy-efficient, reliable products. The T&M equipment specialist will present its portfolio in Warsaw at the 19th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, EPEʹ17 ECCE.

Power electronics is a fundamental part of every electronic device. The right design is key to ensuring the required performance for electronic components, PCBs and systems. Considerations such as energy efficiency and longer battery life are also growing in importance.

At the center of the Rohde & Schwarz portfolio to be showcased at EPEʹ17 ECCE will be oscilloscopes. Among the offerings on display will be the R&S Scope Rider RTH, an ideal solution for floating measurements, i.e. measurements without ground potential. The battery-operated oscilloscope combines the advantages of a handheld oscilloscope with the functionality of a state-of-the-art lab oscilloscope. Each galvanically isolated input channel provides up to 500 MHz bandwidth with measurements possible in environments up to CAT IV 600 V/CAT III 1000 V.

One highlight will certainly be the R&S RTO2000, a powerful digital lab oscilloscope. Its high-speed FFT-based spectrum analysis, in combination with an appropriate near-field probe, makes the R&S RTO2000 ideal for detecting interferers and unwanted emissions and for locating and analyzing EMI problems. The instrument features a high dynamic range with up to 16 bit vertical resolution, high input sensitivity of 1 mV/div and a low-noise frontend. As a result, users can quickly locate and precisely measure even weak signals.

Rohde & Schwarz will also present its R&S RT-ZVC multi-channel power probe for the R&S RTO and R&S RTE digital oscilloscopes. The R&S RT-ZVC adds up to four current and four voltage measurement channels to an R&S RTO or R&S RTE oscilloscope, and up to two probes can be connected to each oscilloscope. The probe makes it possible to clearly correlate the power consumption of, for example, chipsets and IoT wireless modules with analog and digital control signals and optimize the battery life of these components already during circuit development.

The R&S RT-ZPR20 power rail probe from Rohde & Schwarz is an extremely low-noise probe with 2 GHz bandwidth, extra-large offset compensation and an integrated DC voltmeter for power integrity measurements. It verifies the presence of even the smallest interference signals on DC power supplies at voltage levels of up to ±60 V.

The R&S HMC8015 power analyzer from Rohde & Schwarz measures single-phase power and power quality for efficiency analysis and optimization. It is the first compact tester for AC/DC load and standby current characterization that enables measurements without additional tools such as a computer or remote infrastructure.

Another highlight on show at EPEʹ17 ECCE will be the R&S RTB2000, the first entry-level oscilloscope offering 10 bit vertical resolution, industry-leading 10 Msample acquisition memory per channel and a 10.1″ touchscreen. The instrument is ideal for applications in education, R&D and production. Starting at EUR 1,250, it delivers functionality previously only found in significantly higher-priced oscillocopes.

Rohde & Schwarz will present its T&M portfolio at EPEʹ17 ECCE (booth 34) from September 11 to 14, 2017 in Warsaw.
