Overview AI Launches Smart Inspection Cameras with Embedded AI Assistant

The OV Spark and OV Spark Pro combine image acquisition, model training, inference, PLC communication and operator tools inside a single industrial camera.
Overview AI has introduced OV Spark and OV Spark Pro, two smart cameras designed to run artificial-intelligence inspection applications directly on the production line.
The cameras are aimed at manufacturers that need to inspect products, verify assemblies, read markings or identify defects without deploying a separate industrial computer for every inspection point. The OV Spark has a 1.2-megapixel sensor, while the OV Spark Pro provides 5-megapixel imaging. Both use Qualcomm Dragonwing processing with 12 TOPS of AI performance.
The systems combine image acquisition, recipe creation, model training, inference, image storage, operator-interface functions and PLC communication inside the camera. This architecture can simplify installation in factory environments by reducing the number of external components required for an inspection station.
Overview AI provides ten inspection tools that can be combined within one application. These include AI Trigger, Alignment, AI Classification, AI Segmentation, AI Count, AI OCR and Anomaly Detection, together with barcode reading, measurement and colour matching.
The new cameras also include an embedded assistant called Sparky. Users can ask questions in natural language, receive recommendations for suitable inspection tools and obtain explanations of the selected workflow. The assistant is intended to help engineers and production teams configure inspection tasks more quickly, particularly when an application combines several image-processing and AI functions.
Machine-vision systems are increasingly being deployed beyond dedicated automation cells, in production areas where setup time, integration effort and operator accessibility are as important as image quality. By placing the full inspection workflow at the edge, the OV Spark family is intended to make AI-based inspection more practical for distributed factory applications.
OV Spark and OV Spark Pro are available through Overview AI and its distributor network.
