Motion-aware UWB ranging for personnel and equipment localization

RTLS UWB Click board™ from MIKROE, the embedded solutions company that dramatically cuts development time by providing innovative hardware and software products based on proven standards, is a compact add-on board designed for high-precision real-time location, distance measurement, and motion-aware tracking using ultra-wideband communication. It is based on the DWM3001C from Qorvo, a two-way ranging (TWR) communication module that uniquely combines a DW3110 UWB transceiver with an nRF52833 BLE SoC and a LIS2DH12 accelerometer for all-in-one tracking solution.

It can help improve safety and operational efficiency in large factories, and is suitable for indoor navigation in hospitals, shopping malls, and airports where GPS signals are unavailable.”

Other features include an integrated planar UWB antenna, power management circuitry, support for IEEE 802.15.4-2015 and IEEE 802.15.4z BPRF standards, opeartion on and UWB channels 5 and 9, data rates up to 6.8Mbps, AES 128/256 security. In developing this solution, MIKROE worked with LEAPS,  a company based in Prague, Czech Republic, that focuses on building and marketing real-time location and telemetry systems based on ultra-wideband. LEAPS focuses on providing RTLS hardware and software, design services and technology licensing.
