LASER COMPONENTS has expanded its offering of custom thin-film polarizers (TFPs) for high-power laser applications in industrial and scientific systems. The polarizers are designed to separate laser beam polarizations by transmitting p-polarized light while reflecting s-polarized light, supporting beam quality and stability within the laser system.
The company develops coating designs according to application-specific requirements, including defined transmission and reflection characteristics. The polarizers can also be configured for separating or combining polarizations across one or multiple wavelengths and can integrate additional optical functions such as HR/AR coatings.
Manufactured at LASER COMPONENTS’ facility in Olching, Germany, the polarizers use either ion-assisted deposition (IAD) or ion beam sputtering (IBS). Broadband monitoring during the coating process supports precise layer thickness control and reproducibility.
For high-power applications, the thin-film polarizers are designed to provide a high laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT), enabling operation at high power densities.
