Nordic Semiconductor announced that LooUQ’s MTC2-N9151 embedded modem, based on Nordic’s nRF9151 cellular IoT module, has received Skylo Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) certification, simplifying the development of IoT devices that can operate across both terrestrial cellular and satellite networks.
The nRF9151 integrates an application MCU with support for LTE-M, NB-IoT, NB-NTN satellite connectivity and DECT NR+, along with integrated security features. Through Skylo’s standards-based 3GPP NB-NTN service, compatible devices can switch between terrestrial and satellite coverage depending on availability.
LooUQ’s MTC2-N9151 provides a compact embedded implementation of the nRF9151 and requires only two external components for integration. A combined NTN/TN antenna supports both terrestrial LTE and satellite NB-NTN bands.
The MTC2-N9151 and associated development kits are available immediately for evaluation and production design-in.
