Amphenol Aerospace High Speed Solutions Introduces Rugged VPX Media & Protocol Conversion Modules

Sidney, N.Y. June 2016 – Amphenol Aerospace, a global leader in interconnect technologies, now offers an off-the-shelf protocol/media converter VPX engine, the Rugged VPX Media Conversion Modules. The modules are an embedded and integrated set of media and protocol conversion VPX boards for open systems architectures in the military rugged market.

The Rugged VPX Media & Protocol Conversion Module provides connectivity for 1G, 10G, and up to 40G Ethernet with 1G-Base-T, 10G-Base-T, and Fiber Base-SR conversion circuitry. It has multiple copper and fiber conversion formats in a unit that meets MIL-STD-810 vibration specifications and rugged temperature ranges. The 3U and 6U VPX modules have corresponding internal sub-system connectors and cables, as well as full test and integration set of products.

The module is ideal for any rugged application where network integration is needed to connect various sensors, recorders, processors, display engines, and other networked devices together. It is intended for plug-and-play integration with COTS VPX CPUs, switches, and other devices.

Jared Sibrava, Amphenol Aerospace’s High Speed Solutions Business Unit Director, says, “Most customers buy an off-the-shelf Ethernet switch and then develop some custom I/O board to get them the exact system connectivity they need for the requirements they’ve signed up for. Our new Rugged VPX Media Conversion Module solves much of this problem and derivatives can be made that work specifically for new requirements and new systems.” For more information on the Rugged VPX Media Conversion Module, contact Amphenol Aerospace or visit www.amphenol-aerospace.com
