June 2026: Positronic’s SCBM connector series, a high-performance mixed-density D-sub connector family engineered for demanding spaceflight and harsh-environment applications, can now be sourced through Powell Electronics, the supplier of connectors and more for high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial. The SCBM series is part of Positronic’s proven Combo-D product line and enables engineers to combine signal, power, coaxial, high-voltage and fiber optic contacts within a single connector platform.
Designed to meet stringent aerospace and defense requirements, the SCBM Series delivers rugged mechanical performance, high current capability, and low-outgassing materials suitable for mission-critical systems. The connector family conforms to applicable material, dimensional, and performance requirements of GSFC S-311-P4, GSFC S-311-P10, and DSCC specification 85039, while also meeting ASTM E-595 outgassing standards for spaceflight applications.
SCBM Series devices incorporate fixed size 20 and size 8 contacts and support cable and wire crimp, solder, and PCB termination options. Rugged machined shells provide enhanced durability and resistance to shock and vibration in extreme operating environments.
Power contacts within the connector series are rated up to 70A, supporting applications requiring high-current capability in compact connector configurations. Female closed-entry signal contacts utilize Positronic’s proprietary PosiBand® contact system, while size 20 contacts are engineered to meet demanding 40g performance requirements.
The product family includes twenty-two connector variants ranging from 2WK2 through to 46W4 and supports shell sizes 1 through 6. By integrating multiple contact types into a single connector, the SCBM Series helps reduce system complexity, save space, and improve overall reliability.
