SMT power inductors from TT Electronics are certified for automotive applications

Industry qualified inductors offer improved reliability and efficiency

Weybridge, UK, 23 November 2015 – TT Electronics, a global provider of engineered electronics for performance critical applications, today launched a new range of surface mount (SMT) power inductors for high frequency and high temperature applications.  Named the HA65A series, the inductors are designed to meet the requirements of the growing automotive market’s need for certified, high power inductors specifically for buck, boost or buck-boost power converter topologies for optimum voltage regulation at fast switching frequencies.

Optimised for consistent high efficiency and ‘low parasitic’ performance using low-loss ferrite core material and a helical coil configuration, the HA65A series inductors are designed for high density switching power applications such as DC-DC converters, low pass ripple current filters and EMI filters.  The extremely robust inductors embrace a very wide operating temperature range of -40 to +155 °C, so are well equipped to operate safely and reliably in the most punishing of automotive applications.

The HA65A series inductors’ low DC resistance (DCR) figures and low core loss deliver higher overall system efficiency.  Their shielded design improves system level EMI performance, and the inductors’ AEC-Q200 Rev D, Grade 1 automotive certification not only ratifies them for use in such applications but also stands as further proof of their rugged design for all types of passenger vehicle system requirements.

TT Electronics has a high level of expertise in the field of horizontal flatwire helical coil winding, yielding a low profile, high-current, high power density design that satisfies the growing need for higher power inductors for the automotive market.  TT Electronics’ HA65A ‘automotive certified’ inductors will be of interest to system designers, component engineers, design engineers, purchasers and buyers for use in automotive powertrain, hybrid electric vehicles, start-and-stop systems and electric power steering.

The HA65A series is available globally from TT Electronics’ distribution channel partners via www.ttelectronicsmagnetics.com/sales.php. TT Electronics’ automotive portfolio also includes other certified inductors such as the HA72E, HA55/55L, and HM53E for critical systems application requirements.
