Startup ChikChak Market Launches Israel’s first Reels-Based Marketplace for Secondhand Goods

After 3 years of development by alumni of TikTok and Google, the Israeli startup is ending the “era of static photos” on secondhand listing boards. The new technology turns a single short Reel into 10 parallel campaigns across social media and Google — making ads 5.3x more likely to land in the top 20% for purchase intent than benchmark ads.

Tel Aviv-based startup ChikChak Market has launched Israel’s first marketplace built entirely around short, dynamic Reels-style videos. As of today, any private or business user can film a short video to sell an apartment, car, piece of jewelry, watch, furniture item, fashion item and more, and post it free of charge on the new marketplace. Real estate companies and used-car dealers are also offered attractive advertising packages to support marketing at scale. The ChikChak Market app is available as a free download on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

ChikChak Market was founded by Eliran Aharonov, a real estate entrepreneur, and Reuven Maimon, a business entrepreneur. The two bring a combination of business, entrepreneurial and managerial experience, alongside deep familiarity with the challenges and opportunities of a changing market. Aharonov brings years of experience sourcing, developing and managing residential, commercial and income-producing real estate, while Maimon brings extensive experience in business and entrepreneurship. Together, they identified a growing gap between how consumers consume content today and how commerce is still conducted — and set out to build a platform that would change that equation, by connecting video, technology and commerce, and turning every piece of content into an opportunity to reach a wider audience and close a deal faster.

Distribution automation

ChikChak Market assembled a team of developers and video specialists, some of them alumni of TikTok and Google, who spent more than three years building a video platform that enables fast, user-friendly uploading of product-sale Reels formatted to match the content architecture of the world’s most popular social networks.

This compatibility allows every Reel to be automatically distributed across the world’s leading social networks, creating 10 parallel campaigns per video: on the seller’s and ChikChak Market’s TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts, as well as on Facebook Marketplace. In addition, the system automatically indexes each video for search engines (SEO) and creates a dedicated page for every video that is indexed directly in Google’s top search results. Finally, the system automatically embeds the Reel on the business advertiser’s own website.

To ensure the highest standard of user experience (UX), the platform introduces an engineering breakthrough: loading and playing Reels within one-hundredth of a second (zero-latency streaming) — a performance benchmark many technology companies worldwide have failed to crack.

Eliran Aharonov, co-founder and CEO of ChikChak Market, said: “We identified a huge disconnect: people spend hours every day consuming Reels content on Instagram and TikTok, but when they want to sell or buy a used car, apartment or watch, they’re forced to travel back in time to archaic text-based listing boards from the early 2000s. We took the winning visual format in the world and turned it into the most powerful sales engine in the market.”

The shift to dynamic video isn’t just about an improved experience — it also changes the economics of listing boards. Meta and Toluna research found that Reels ads highlighting clear USPs or benefits were 5.3x more likely to land in the top 20% for purchase intent than benchmark ads.

This effectiveness has already been proven on the ground: during the app’s quiet pilot period, more than 100 leading companies in the real estate, automotive and retail sectors have already purchased dedicated advertising packages on the platform.

Aharonov concludes: “We’re not just improving the sales process — we’re also dramatically shortening the ‘shelf time’ of properties and products. Our next goal is to launch a Beta version in the U.S. market, alongside a global funding round that will accelerate the company’s international expansion.”
