Infineon Technologies has announced the acquisition of C2i Semiconductors, a Bangalore-based specialist in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data center applications. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 and is intended to strengthen Infineon’s position in next-generation power delivery for AI servers and high-performance computing systems.
C2i develops intelligent digital power-management technologies designed to respond to the highly dynamic power demands of modern AI processors. Its expertise includes multiphase controllers, smart power stages and vertical power delivery architectures, including future Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators (SIVR), which bring voltage regulation increasingly close to the processor.
As AI accelerators become more powerful, supplying large and rapidly changing currents efficiently to GPUs and other compute devices is becoming a major system-design challenge. Software-defined power architectures combine advanced power semiconductors with digital control and software algorithms to dynamically optimize power conversion, regulation and system stability.
Infineon plans to combine C2i’s digital power expertise with its existing portfolio of silicon, silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN) power technologies. The company describes the resulting strategy as a “grid-to-core” approach, covering power conversion from the data center’s electrical infrastructure down to the processor itself.
The acquisition also expands Infineon’s R&D capabilities in India, where the company already employs approximately 2,800 people. According to Infineon, C2i’s team will form part of a new center of excellence for digital power technologies focused on AI infrastructure.
