GEOX.AI and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Launch AI-Powered Initiative to Assess Building Risk Across Japan

GEOX.AI, a global leader in AI-driven property intelligence, announced today a strategic partnership with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance (MSI), part of the MS&AD Insurance Group, to deploy advanced aerial, satellite, and 3D imaging technology for large-scale assessment of building resilience throughout Japan.

Under the new collaboration, GeoX will analyze tens of thousands of insured properties using proprietary AI models that extract structural insights from aerial and satellite imagery combined with 3D reconstruction of street-level visuals. The analysis will help identify homes that are at elevated risk of fire and natural-disaster damage, enabling proactive maintenance, improved safety, and more accurate risk underwriting.

Japan has experienced rising climate-driven hazards in recent years, including stronger typhoons, severe storms, and widespread aging of residential structures. These shifts have contributed to higher insurance losses and increased premiums. By providing highly accurate, property-level condition data, GeoX and MSI aim to support earlier intervention, reduce fraud, and enhance the long-term sustainability of property insurance in Japan.

The partnership will begin with a pilot program in Hokkaido—one of Japan’s most risk-exposed regions- in coordination with local municipalities. Following the pilot phase, MSI and GeoX plan to expand the initiative to additional regions nationwide.

The analysis will evaluate exterior walls, roofs, windows, doors, fencing, vegetation, and on-property debris- factors known to increase fire spread and exacerbate damage during major weather events. Insights generated will support risk-based pricing, portfolio management, and operational efficiency for MSI’s underwriting teams.

“This collaboration represents a major step forward in applying AI to real-world risk mitigation,” said Itzik Lavi, CEO and Co-Founder of GeoX. “Japan faces unique environmental and demographic challenges, and we are proud to support MSI with technology that enhances both resilience and insurance sustainability.”

Founded in 2018, GeoX provides AI-powered property insights to leading insurers, financial institutions, and government agencies worldwide, including Munich Re, Sompo, FEMA, and major insurance careers across the U.S. and Australia. The company has raised $23 million and operates in Israel, Europe, the United States, and Japan.
