10 billion chips with Integrity Guard delivered – milestone proves Infineon’s leadership in security

Security controllers are an essential part of modern digital life. They are embedded into ePassports, ID cards, payment cards, and smartphones, protecting the personal data and digital identities of billions of people worldwide. Since its introduction, well over 10 billion security controllers based on Integrity Guard security architecture by Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) have been delivered – marking a major milestone in the architecture’s global adoption. To withstand increasingly complex threats, these controllers themselves must meet highest security standards. The fundamental principles of the Integrity Guard architectures were introduced over 15 years ago with the first 16-bit security controllers of the SLE78 family and have since formed a central element of Infineon’s security controller portfolio. Designed to deliver a high level of protection, it is integrated into various members of Infineon’s controller families and features a dual-CPU design with hardware-based error detection. In response to the growing demands for security and certification, Infineon is now adding a new member to the family: the TEGRION™ SLC27G with security architecture Integrity Guard 32.

All this underscores the urgent need for advanced, secured solutions. This is precisely where our new member of the Integrity Guard 32 family, TEGRION SLC27G, steps in.”

This dual-interface and contactless controller is designed for secured identification, payment, authentication applications well into the future. Based on the powerful 32-bit Arm® v8-M instruction set, which has been further optimized with Infineon’s security expertise, combines security, efficiency, performance, and easy implementation. With its excellent Integrity Guard 32 security architecture, it is perfectly equipped for long-term security and the ideal choice for products meeting the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Integrity Guard 32 features highly efficient error detection and a self-contained, self-checking 32-Bit dual CPU system. With its update capability, it is the answer to future security requirements, accelerates certification processes, and enables a higher level of security without compromising performance or reliability, equally addressing the resistance against the exponentially increasing computing power of quantum computers.

The TEGRION Security Controller SLC27G is currently undergoing certification by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and is aiming for CC EAL6+ certification. This once again highlights Infineon’s ongoing commitment to the global advancement of security.

Availability

The TEGRION SLC27G security controller, with up to 584 KB of non-volatile memory and a clock frequency of 100 MHz, is available as a sample and for large-scale production orders. Further information is available at www.infineon.com/TEGRION.
