Aidoc integrates care-revolutionizing aiOS at Abu Dhabi’s SSMC

SSMC becomes the first facility in the GCC to integrate Aidoc’s proprietary operating system aiOS™ deploying AI to help reduce time to treatment and improve patient experience

Aidoc, the leading provider of healthcare AI solutions, announced today an agreement with Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), one of the UAE’s largest hospitals for serious and complex care, and a joint-venture partnership between Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and Mayo Clinic, marking the first installation of the aiOSTM in the UAE. As part of the agreement, Aidoc will deploy seven medical imaging solutions at SSMC to identify and prioritize urgent medical cases that are life-threatening.

Through this engagement, SSMC has introduced a number of tech-driven initiatives and clinical programs to improve patient care experience and outcomes, driving stronger facility performance in four key domains: efficiency, effectiveness, safety and mortality. SSMC’s integration of Aidoc’s aiOS™ includes the radiology suite of solutions, designed to triage and identify the following acute medical conditions: brain bleeds, lung blog clots, neck spine fractures, rib fractures and air trapped in the abdomen wall.

“Aidoc’s cutting-edge clinical AI solutions have empowered facilities around the world to deliver expedited care and enhance overall patient quality,” says Tom Valent, Aidoc Chief Business Officer. “SSMC is setting a remarkable example for healthcare providers worldwide, demonstrating how AI technology can serve as a vital layer of intelligence above all hospital systems. By leveraging the aiOS, hospitals can bridge the gap between integrating AI for individual clinical use cases and operating more efficiently in every facet, ultimately delivering better outcomes for patients.”

Aidoc’s aiOSTM solution enables healthcare providers to efficiently orchestrate the clinical algorithms they have integrated into their systems and coordinate care expediently among specialists for patients diagnosed with conditions that require urgent care. In retrospective clinical studies, Aidoc AI has demonstrated productive results on key areas of patient care:

  • Helping reduce patients’ period of stay in the hospital by up to 2 days at Cedars-Sinai.
  • Reducing the time to getting a patient treatment for those diagnosed with brain bleeds by 55% at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
  • Aiding in quality improvement by up to 45% at Yale New-Haven Health.

“The radiology department plays a pivotal role in the patient care journey. It is important for us as radiologists to effectively triage patients and support our specialists in delivering treatment by promptly notifying them of positive cases,” says Dr. Holland Ravelle, chair of the Department of Clinical Imaging at SSMC. “We believe that Aidoc will play a groundbreaking role in the radiology reading rooms and in the broader scope of patient care, helping us uphold our vision to be the leading integrated health care destination in the region.”

Delay of care for acute acute neurological and cardiovascular conditions can have potentially catastrophic, long-term effects on patients. For example, every second a stroke is not treated, a patient can lose up to 32,000 brain cells and for pulmonary acute conditions like lung blood clots, a patient going undiagnosed can experience heart attack, shock, stroke, or even death. Thus identifying, prioritizing and coordinating care of patients diagnosed with these conditions is of the highest urgency.
