Israel’s Global Data Center establishes a second facility in an investment of around NIS 100 million

Leading Israeli data center company Global Data Center, that currently operates an advanced facility in Herzliya, is planning an investment of about $30 million in establishing an additional data center in Petah Tikva, near Tel Aviv. In the initial stage, the facility will encompass 6,000 square meters and will be in a protected and highly secured underground site, in an area that is easily accessible, and will be powered by a 15-megawatt supply of electricity. The construction stage of the new data center is due to be completed towards the end of 2020 with the facility expected to commence commercial operations during 2021. Global Data Center expects demand of large organizations for hosting services will lead to a doubling of the facility to around 12,000 square meters.

In April 2019 Global Data Center announced the doubling of its Herzliya Pituach facility to 6,000 square meters at an investment of tens of millions of Shekels. Companies using the Herzliya facility include leading Israeli and multinational companies operating in Israel, including leaders in the banking, insurance, finance and high-tech sectors.

The Petah Tikva data center is being built in accordance with the Tier 3 Uptime global standard that serves as the current standard for advanced data centers. Like the Herzliya Pituach data center, the new facility in Petah Tikva will offer the same electricity, air conditioning and energy infrastructure required for highest level of operation of IT and telecommunications services. The site will be manned, filmed and under surveillance on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week and will be protected by a multi-layered security system based on elements like a network of sensors and biometric techniques.

The Petah Tikva data center will include dedicated hosting domains that will be tailor-made for the specific requirements of the customer, and will offer DRP/BCP (Disaster Recovery Plan/Business Continuity Plan) capabilities for recovery from a failure or total breakdown and total business continuity for key organizational business procedures. The facility will offer onsite and remote backup services, cloud services, on demand operations and inspection services and finger-based services.

Moreover, we project that the demand for hosting at the Petah Tikva site will lead to a doubling of the size of the facility, like what we experienced in Herzliya.”

Global Data Center was founded in 2013 by Moshe Lasman in cooperation and with the financial backing of the Viola Group and GlenRock, a private equity firm. Lasman served in the past as the director of IBM Israel’s outsourcing division and the director of HP Global Services in Israel.
