Digilent Genesys ZU – the perfect platform for AI and Embedded Vision application now available at Phoenix Technologies

Digilent introduces a new product in the line-up: the Genesys ZU, a cost-effective but powerful Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC development board loaded with peripherals and a wide ecosystem of add-on modules. The Genesys ZU is a standalone board designed with optimized specs that will satisfy the most demanding applications, powerful multimedia and network connectivity interfaces, and an ideal learning curve to get users up and working quickly. There will be two versions of the board available, the baseline Genesys ZU-3EG and the more powerful Genesys ZU-5EV.

Meant to provide an ideal entry to Xilinx’s MPSoC offering, we’ve combined cost-effectiveness with powerful multimedia and network connectivity interfaces. The Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC at the heart of the Genesys ZU is a big leap from the Zynq-7000 series: faster and more processor cores, upgraded memory interface, and integrated gigabit transceivers bring support for DDR4, USB Type-C 3.1, PCIe, SATA, and DisplayPort. Both Genesys ZU offerings support multiple camera inputs, 4K video, 1G Ethernet with high memory bandwidth in a Linux-based platform, serving as an advanced reVISION system. The upgraded 5EV model also offers SFP+ 10G Ethernet and HDMI source/sink.

The Genesys ZU is primarily targeted towards Linux-based applications that allows easy access to Wi-Fi, cellular radio (WWAN), SSD, USB SuperSpeed, and 4K video. Digilent Pmod and high-speed SYZYGY-compatible Zmod ports allow for flexible expansion and easy access to a wide ecosystem of add-on modules, perfect for silicon evaluation, rapid prototyping, and research.

The Genesys ZU is now available at Phoenix Technologies, Digilent authorized distributor in Israel, along with the first of Digilent’s SYZYGY-compatible add-on boards; the Zmod ADC 1410 and Zmod DAC 1411, both with 100MSPS, 14-bit converters.
