Scotland – December 2019 – Pyreos, the first supplier globally of surface mount, pyroelectric mid-infrared sensors and detectors for gas, flame and spectrometry, today announced the appointment of Tom Willey as non-executive director of the company, with effect from 1st December 2019.
Tom has had a distinguished career in the semiconductor industry and has been based in California for thirty years. After an early career in semiconductor marketing, he became vice president and general manager of Philips/VLSI’s cellular wireless unit and has since held the role of CEO at Innovics and Discera before their exits. He has also served on the boards of several semiconductor businesses in America and Europe.
With a quarter of the company’s sales coming from America, Tom will help guide the organisation to consolidate further success in the US market.
“We warmly welcome Tom to our board as non-executive director,” said Howard Ford, Chairman of Pyreos. “The company is at an exciting juncture since we have enjoyed strong growth in 2019. Our flagship product, the ezPyroTM digital surface mount range, has blazed a trail in flame and gas detection and measurement and recently won its largest ever order. Tom’s strategic oversight and broad experience will be invaluable to sustaining this development.”
