TE Connectivity announces the new LUMAWISE Drive LED Holder Type Z50 – DALI-2 series for more attractive and compact solutions in track and spot lighting

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is introducing the LUMAWISE Drive LED Holder Type Z50 – DALI-2 series for chip-on-board (COB) LEDs used in track and spot lighting. Designed for 48VDC input, the new holder incorporates DC/DC constant current LED driver functionality into a low profile LED holder enabling lighting designers to develop more compact, cost-effective, and better-looking lighting products.

The LUMAWISE Drive LED holder Type Z50 – DALI-2 series integrates the driver into the same form factor as TE’s popular 50mm-diameter Zhaga-inspired range of LUMAWISE LED holders for COB LEDs. Until recently, most LED drivers were housed in a box, often larger than the light fixture itself, mounted to the side of the luminaire and remote from the COB light source. This configuration required wiring between the light source and driver, creating design and manufacturing complexity. TE’s new LUMAWISE Drive LED holders allow more simplicity and flexibility in lighting design, providing a cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing luminaire.

“These new LED holders work with a wide range of readily available 48V constant voltage power supplies, meaning powering multiple fixtures off a single power supply is now possible,” notes Jeroen Iedema, product manager at TE connectivity.

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) lamp fixtures are intelligent, dimmable and can be controlled, monitored and maintained using a two-wire global IEC 62386 open standard communication protocol. A wide variety of DALI-compatible fixtures are available globally from various manufacturers.

TE earlier launched its LUMAWISE Drive LED Holder Type Z50 On/Off series and 0-10V Dimmable series. All configurations are available in 350mA, 500mA, 700mA or 1050mA constant current output and a typical forward voltage of 36VDC.
