Würth Elektronik eiSos Promotes the Future Network

Waldenburg (Germany), 22 March 2019 – Würth Elektronik eiSos GmbH & Co. KG is partner of the renowned Digital Life Design (DLD) conference. DLD is an interdisciplinary network and innovation platform covering all aspects of digitization. With this partnership, Würth Elektronik eiSos promotes the exchange of opinion leaders and leading personalities on trends and visions of the future worldwide.

Since 2005, DLD has developed into one of the two most important innovation conferences in Europe according to “The Economist”. Outstanding speakers such as Mark Zuckerberg, Eric Schmidt and Paolo Coelho have spoken at the conferences in Munich, New York, Beijing, London, Moscow, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv and Singapore. The aim is to create a global conference network on digitization covering the fields of business, society, education and culture.

For the globally active manufacturer of electronic and electromechanical components for the electronics industry, DLD’s commitment serves to consistently develop its own corporate philosophy:

“With our 8,300 employees we already combine resources and expertise in 50 countries of the world,” says Alexander Gerfer, CTO of Würth Elektronik eiSos Group. “Trends such as IoT or IIoT or predictive maintenance are part of our work. This calls for new ways of thinking and business models – which makes the exchange and joint development of ideas so very important.” Gerfer continues: “We look forward to partnering with DLD’s strong global network and are excited about intensive discussions and inspiration.”

Alexander Gerfer discussed the future of ‘Made in Germany’ with Hans J. Langer from the EOS Group and Stefan Vilsmeier from Brainlab at the Digital Life Design (DLD) Future Conference in Munich on January 21, 2019. The panel discussion, which followed directly on from the keynote speech by the German Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier, highlighted the need to catch up in terms of infrastructure and agility. Here, Alexander Gerfer referred to the manifold activities of Würth Elektronik eiSos, with which out-of-the-box thinking is encouraged in the company’s own organization and the targeted activities of start-ups in the company’s environment.

Würth Elektronik eiSos also sees itself as an enabler for new technologies beyond specific partnerships: The wide-ranging support for developers with samples and high-quality components even in small quantities, as well as practical support in design and EMC questions, are one aspect, the other is involvement in committees and networks. Würth Elektronik eiSos is committed to eMobility, IoT and additive manufacturing, for instance. To illustrate this: in October 2018 Alexander Gerfer was guest speaker at DLD Singapore with the focus on 3D printing and an insider’s view of the new eiSos Competence Center in Berlin. He made it clear that the additive manufacturing processes will almost certainly transform the foundations of established manufacturing methods over the next ten years.
