Ericsson wins top awards for Massive MIMO and Private Networks solutions

Notching the top spot in the Mobile Tech category, Ericsson describes its 5G High-band Massive MIMO as the first ever commercial enhanced mobile broadband solution offering on millimeter wave. “The mmWave spectrum, applied through beamforming, gives it a reach that would not otherwise be possible, and Ericsson has pursued this technology aggressively to meet customer demands,” the company said.

The Ericsson solution can combine mmWave Massive MIMO over New Radio (NR) with NR on low-bands, and additionally with Ericsson Spectrum Sharing, which enables NR and LTE to share spectrum in lower bands. In a wider context, this allows for better mobile broadband coverage and more business cases for premium and enterprise services with enhanced experience.

“This major innovation dramatically reduces the cost per bit delivered to the end user and opens up diverse 5G opportunities in those less utilized higher frequencies,” the GLOMO judges commented. ” With the associated network sharing capabilities across both the high bands and the LTE bands this technology will smooth migration from 4G to 5G.”

In the run-up to MWC 2019, Ericsson Private Networks (enterprise-class solutions) won top distinction at the annual GTI awards ceremony. With strong deployment scalability and under a unified solution architecture, Ericsson Private Networks solution meets various needs of data security, deployment cycle and cost, and network management and spectrum management of enterprises and operators. The solutions leverage existing operator network resources to a maximum degree to reduce investment and deployment costs. At the same time, the solutions enable data local residency to ensure enterprise data security. It also applies edge cloud technology to provide unlimited possibilities for enterprise edge computing.

The Ericsson Private Networks solution has been widely recognized by customers globally and widely deployed in various industries such as ports, airports, and manufacturing in dozens of countries around the world. It has gained a strong footprint for Ericsson in the 4G and 5G industry applications market.

The GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO Awards) recognize and celebrate all contributions made to the evolving and developing mobile industry. It is held annually in conjunction with MWC in Barcelona.

The GTI Award program aims to acknowledge the success of industry players in the TD-LTE ecosystem and encourage the industry to develop innovative products and solutions that address the opportunities and challenges faced by GTI operators. GTI is fully affirmed by Ericsson and its effort in promoting 4G and 5G applications in the industry verticals.
