Arrow Electronics signs SensiEDGE

Arrow Electronics has signed an agreement with Israeli start-up SensiEDGE. The distributor will offer the company’s products through its operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The first product available is the SensiBLE internet of things (IoT) system on module (SoM).

The SensiBLE IoT SoM is a customisable module for developers who want to focus on developing and adding differentiation to their own applications and core competencies when creating products for the IoT, rather than spending time on the underlying hardware platform or production logistics.

Based around an ARM Cortex-M4, the SensiBLE IoT SoM is equipped with Bluetooth 4.1 low energy connectivity and sensors for pressure, temperature, ambient light and humidity. There is also a three-axis accelerometer, magnetometer and digital gyroscope. All this functionality is contained within a compact form factor, with dimensions of just 20 x 30mm. Arrow suggests that suitable applications for the SensiBLE SoM include fitness and blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, smart plugs and wearable sensors.

SensiEDGE has also signed up to Arrow’s newly-created SoM Program, within the Microcontroller/IoT Program section. The initiative also has community boards, embedded vision and embedded processors sections, or ‘layers’. The SoM Program is designed to help companies get products to a production-ready state as quickly as possible by providing a choice of building blocks that can accelerate development.
