Meet Louis Vuitton’s luxury smartwatch for tech-savvy travelers, powered by Snapdragon Wear

Continuing its tradition of blending elegance with innovation, Louis Vuitton launched its first smartwatch, the Tambour Horizon. The stylish timepiece borrows from the company’s iconic Tambour design, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 and Google’s Android Wear 2.0. Its two exclusive travel apps make it an ideal watch for the modern traveler.

Measuring just 42mm across and 12.55mm deep, the Tambour Horizon features a 1.2-inch circular AMOLED touch screen. Its circular face features the distinct concave bezel of the Swiss manufacturer’s Tambour Moon design. Equipped with Android Wear 2.0, this smartwatch affords wearers a unique level of personalization, including several options for adding initials, backgrounds, and stripes.

“My Flight,” one of two apps exclusive to the Tambour Horizon, is designed to provide travelers with all of the essential info they need for a smooth journey. Thanks to constant connectivity, courtesy of Snapdragon Wear, they can track flight times, terminal and gate information, reports of delays, and hours remaining before arrival all at the flick of the wrist.

The “City Guide” app suggests the essential sights of seven of the most visited cities in the world right on the smartwatch’s touch screen. Using the embedded GPS in Snapdragon Wear, the City Guide app is engineered to identify nearby restaurants, hotels, historical landmarks, and tourist attractions in real-time.

The Tambour Horizon’s GMT function offers travelers another way to stay connected across continents and time zones. They can pick a major city and the corresponding time will appear in the chosen time zone along the dial’s outer 24-hour ring.

Of course, the Tambour Horizon also features the essentials of a modern smartwatch: alarm, countdown timer, weather, step counter, and notification of phone calls, text messages, and emails. Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity are supported by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 as well.

This ultimate traveller’s watch is available in Graphite, Monogram, and Black. Wearers can further customize the Tambour Horizon by choosing from 60 readily interchangeable straps — 30 for men and 30 for women.

The Tambour Horizon is the first commercial Android Wear smartwatch that’s truly global, meaning jetsetters can buy it in Boston and it’ll work immediately in Beijing. Louis Vuitton’s elegant smartwatch is available now.
