TE Connectivity Introduces D-3000 First Mate Last Break Dynamic Series Connector

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, is unveiling a new addition to its Dynamic Series of First Mate Last Break (FMLB) connectors. The D-3000 FMLB 5.08mm option offers FMLB solutions from signal level circuitry to power circuit connectivity up to 15A – all in a ruggedized, industrialized package.

FMLB Dynamic Series connectors are designed for applications where there are specific grounding requirements. They provide increased safety by allowing the ground to be established prior to the power connections being made and maintaining the ground connection until after the power connections are broken. TE already offers FMLB connectors with pitches of 2.50 mm (D-2000 type), 6.35 mm (D-4000), 10.16 mm (D-5000) and 16.00 mm (D-7000).

The new D-3000 FMLB version is resistant to vibration and mechanical shocks and is IP20-certified. It has 0.38-µm gold plated contacts to ensure high conductivity. Multiple points of contact provide a very stable electrical and mechanical connection and the gold-plated contacts enable low insertion forces.

Housings are keyed to prevent mis-mating and misalignment with existing standard Dynamic Series connectors, simplifying installation and maintenance for service engineers working in the field. The connector makes an audible sound when wires are locked in place. The standard D-3000 hand tool and applicator tooling can be re-used.

The D-3000 FMLB connector is intended for a wide range of applications, including industrial automation and control, data communication, power distribution, drives, production equipment, robotics, and elevators and escalators.
