QTC force sensors in gaming mouse give a more precise, intuitive HMI experience

Peratech, a world leader in force-sensing technology, announces integration into the world’s first mouse with force-sensitive analogue buttons. The Z from Swiftpoint is the first gaming mouse with pivot, tilt and roll, and utilises Peratech sensors for revolutionary ‘Deep Click’ buttons, enabling users to access dozens of different button actions while barely moving their fingers.

Peratech’s Quantum Tunnelling Composite (QTC®) Single Point sensors incorporated into the mouse enable faster, more intuitive and precise movements compared with other mice. The thin, compact SP200-10 sensors have a large dynamic range, excellent repeatability and minimal moving parts for high reliability. SP200-10 sensors require real force to activate them, which reduces false activation. The mouse provides tactile feedback as it recognises the depth of click made when the Deep Click pressure-sensitive buttons are pressed. For gamers, the manifold benefits include configurable activation force and the ability to control throttle or speed when driving, flying or running. Integrated scope and zoom control is now possible, and gamers can use a normal click for a light attack or a harder click to launch a heavy attack.

Grant Odgers, Chief Technology Officer at Swiftpoint said, “The force control offered by Peratech’s SP200-10 sensors enabled us to create a product with the intuitive analogue control gamers want. And it isn’t just gamers who can benefit; the Deep Click pressure-sensitive buttons give designers and programmers an enhanced user experience through multi-level text selection and enhanced copy and paste. In fact, anyone who creates, edits and views documents now has more precise control when navigating applications and data as they can scroll through documents slowly or quickly based on force.”

Mike Levin, Chief Commercial Officer at Peratech, commented, “We’re delighted to work with Swiftpoint to create the most advanced gaming mouse on the market. Our SP200 force sensors, in conjunction with an accelerometer, gyroscope and tactile feedback give gamers, power users and designers the multi-functional precision tool they have been demanding.”

The Z won 3 CES 2017 awards for innovation in the Best Of, Gaming and Computer Accessories categories and is available for immediate order from Swiftpoint or Amazon. The Z is being launched at E3 in Los Angeles on 13 June 2017.
