Renesas Electronics Europe extends Synergy™ Platform Ecosystem by adding Amazon Web Service IoT Connectivity

Renesas Electronics Europe, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, today announced the availability of the Amazon Web Service (AWS) IoT Device SDK for Renesas Synergy™ Platform, which will be made available on the Synergy Partner Showcase of the Synergy Gallery site. The SDK enables system developers to quickly access the power and capabilities of AWS, allowing them to easily add new devices to their existing IoT infrastructure, or create a new design tailored to their specific requirements.

The SDK includes a binary executable to demonstrate functionality, full AWS IoT Device and project source code, plus detailed tutorials for creating and configuring the IoT device, building messages and requests, and creating an IoT Device Shadow. Using the Synergy Software Package (SSP) as a foundation, the kit was developed for Renesas by RELOC s.r.l. The SDK utilises AWS cloud-specific protocols coming from Rensas’ strategic partner Express Logic X-Ware IoT product suite. The AWS IoT Device SDK is designed to run on the Synergy Starter Kit SK-S7G2, which is readily available directly from Renesas and from all our franchised distributors globally.

Andrea Ricci, CEO of RELOC s.r.l., commented, “Reducing time-to-market is fundamental to stay competitive in our field. The combination of hardware and software included in the Renesas Synergy Platform allowed us to get started quickly and develop IoT solutions in a fraction of time compared to previous experiences, rather than having to recreate the basic building blocks.”

The X-Ware™ IoT Platform provides Synergy Platform developers with a premier, industrial grade, and top-to-bottom cloud connectivity solution. The foundation of the X-Ware IoT Platform is NetX Duo™ – the industry’s first safety certified TCP/IP solution (SIL 4 and ASIL-D). In addition to being industrial grade, the X-Ware IoT Platform boasts an extremely small footprint. This small size has the potential to “cloud enable” the tiniest of sensor devices, while still supporting full edge router functionality. “We are extremely excited and pleased that Renesas has adopted our industrial grade X-Ware IoT Platform for Renesas Synergy,” said William E. Lamie, President and CEO of Express Logic, Inc. “The combined best-of-class software and hardware IoT platforms will greatly help our mutual customers deliver high quality IoT solutions to market in record time!”
