RS Components introduces high-performance LattePanda Windows-based computer board targeting professional engineers and makers Cost-effective LattePanda from DF Robot offers a full Windows 10 single-board computer and extensive memory options

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has introduced a new addition to its extensive portfolio of board-level solutions for developers and makers with the new LattePanda from DF Robot. The LattePanda is a low-cost Windows 10 single-board computer that is ideal for a diverse range of users including Windows and IoT developers, hardware enthusiasts and robotics designers, as well as makers and hobbyists.

The introduction comes with the recent signing of a global distribution agreement between RS and DF Robot, enabling RS to distribute a number of the company’s products. While the DF Robot products enable RS to better address the maker community, the high specification of products such as the LattePanda also allows RS to offer products that are ideal for the professional market.

The LattePanda comes pre-installed with a full version of Windows 10 and includes powerful tools such as Visual Studio, NodeJS and Java. Using existing APIs, developers can easily use C#, Javascript, Ruby and others to produce their own software and hardware projects on the LattePanda, just as they would normally do on a PC or bulky laptop. The board is also compatible with any peripherals that work with a PC such as printers, joysticks and cameras.

The speed and power of the LattePanda comes from its 1.8GHz Intel quad-core processor and extensive memory options, offering up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB onboard Flash memory. The board has excellent connectivity with integrated WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 interfaces. The board also includes an integrated Arduino-compatible co-processor, which means it can easily be used to control and sense the physical world like an Arduino board. The package enables users to build a prototype in minutes, test ideas, optimise code and develop a product. In addition to the LattePanda, RS will shortly be launching a selection of accessory products for both the Arduino and the Raspberry Pi.

“RS is looking to engage with more and more developers and makers, helping them to fully realise their talent and potential,” said Jon Boxall, Head of Semiconductors at RS Components. “To help achieve this goal, RS is partnering with highly innovative companies such as DF Robot that provide a range of exciting products for professionals and makers – the powerful LattePanda Windows-based single-board computer is just one example of many.”
