The Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) sold its Vakola Measurement and Standardisation function located in Vihti to VTT Expert Services Ltd. The acquisition contract was signed 31 May. The business will be transferred to VTT Expert Services Ltd on 1 June 2016.
VTT Expert Services Ltd will continue the provision and development of acquired services, focussing on customers’ needs. Until further notice, the official granting of ATP certificates will remain with Luke. Technological research conducted by Luke is not included in the acquisition. A total of 11 employees will transfer from Luke to VTT Expert Services Ltd on their current terms of employment. VTT Expert Services will continue to provide services in the Vakola facilities in Vihti.
The acquisition will further strengthen and complement the services of VTT Expert Services for the vehicle and transport machinery industry. Key testing and approval services to be transferred as a result of the business acquisition include measurements and inspections of machinery, weather condition measurements, and type approvals for machinery manufacturers. The Vakola facilities will expand VTT Expert Services’ current testing capacity for instance in weather condition measurements.
The operations are mainly accredited, and the Vakola organisation also provides the services of a Notified Body. The accreditations and external authorisations will be transferred to VTT Expert Services Ltd as a result of the business acquisition.
