Microchip Celebrates Continued Growth and Expansion of Award-Winning Line of Development Tools

Microchip Technology Inc.(NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced that the company has shipped its two millionth development tool. Microchip’s line of development tools has continued to grow and expand, including the free and award-winning MPLAB® X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), free and optimizing MPLAB XC Compilers and the popular low-cost PICkit™ 3 and MPLAB ICD 3 In-Circuit Debuggers. Microchip’s vast selection of development tools can support nearly any embedded design application using our microcontroller, digital signal controller or analog components.

“We are incredibly proud and excited to celebrate this tremendous accomplishment,” said Derek Carlson, vice president of development tools at Microchip. “Microchip is committed to offering our customers a diverse and quality set of development tools. With over 1,600 development tools, we truly feel we have something to offer every embedded engineer for virtually every application.”

In celebration of this milestone, Microchip is offering 20% off all core development tools until the end of June. This promotion will include some of Microchip’s most popular development tools, including the PICkit 3 In-Circuit Debugger, MPLAB ICD 3 In-Circuit Debugger, and MPLAB REAL ICE™ In-Circuit Emulator, as well as all MPLAB XC PRO Compiler workstation licenses and the MPLAB REAL ICE Power Monitor board.

“We want to thank all our customers who have entrusted us with their designs, realizing that the right tools will greatly improve their development costs, time to market, and competitive edge,” added Carlson. “And we will continue to further the state of the art in debugging technology by delivering new and advanced solutions.”
