LED beam control modules now available from Plessey for medium and high power lighting applications

Plessey announced today that it will be releasing its LED beam control module, which they are branding Stellar™ at the Light and Building event from 13-18 March 2016 at the Fair and Exhibition Centre in Frankfurt, Germany. Stellar is Plessey’s latest, GaN-on-silicon, LED solution and showcases the combination of Plessey’s MaGIC™ low cost, high efficiency, surface-emitting LEDs with unique modular optics representing the next phase in LED lighting. Dr. Keith Strickland, Plessey’s CTO, said, “As part of our chip scale optics development we have developed a variety of solutions for beam control off the LED chip. This is an exciting development for LED modules and lighting designers.

Getting light to where you need it is critical in industrial, retail, hospitality and outdoor lighting. Stellar provides lighting designers with the design freedom needed for lightweight, low profile, less bulky designs. As this is our first year exhibiting our LED and lighting solutions at Light and Building, we are very excited about releasing some of our newest developments using our GaN-on-silicon technology. We will be sharing with the leading lighting companies some lighting ideas that take advantage of our technology, including those related to on-chip beam forming.” Giuliano Cassataro, Plessey’s LED Sales Director, said, “With the release of Stellar, we have demonstrated that we have the technology and supply chain to provide mass customization of lighting solutions for manufacturers in all segments of the lighting market.

Stellar will permit lighting designers to improve the reliability and quality of light using our state-of-the-art LED light engine for most applications. We are thrilled that we will be showcasing this integration of solid state lighting solutions at Light and Building 2016 and look forward to meeting leading lighting designers at the show.” Light and Building 2016 is the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology. Plessey will hold product demonstrations presented by technical and design experts at Hall 6.2 stand C11, providing an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of its latest products and solutions for the commercial, industrial, consumer and wearable lighting segments.

Light and Building will open on Sunday the 13th March to 17th March from 9am to 6pm and on Friday the 18th March from 9am to 5pm.
