Huawei and Vålerenga announce partnership

Huawei Technologies Norway AS announced today that it has become the main sponsor and official partner of Vålerenga Fotball AS. Vålerenga is one of Norway’s most prestigious football teams. The club, based in the capital Oslo, has won the country’s premier league championship, the Tippeligaen, five times, and been winner of the Norway Football Cup on four occasions.

The partnership will see a collaboration between the two brands, and follows Huawei’s successful partnership with other leading clubs including AC Milan, Ajax, Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Paris-Saint Germain (PSG)

“Huawei is delighted to partner with Vålerenga. As one of the leading football clubs in Scandinavia, known for its strong position both on and off the pitch, Huawei sees Vålerenga as the perfect match to our brand. Huawei has gained a leading position in the global ICT industry by providing innovative and compelling solutions to our customers in the same way as Vålerenga has attracted supporters across Norway,” said Mr. Eric Zhang, CEO of Huawei Technologies Norway AS.

Huawei will be the official smartphone partner for Vålerenga Fotball AS, and the Huawei brand will appear on the A-team’s sportswear as well as extensive arena advertising visibility. Huawei will also take an active role in the club’s social programs, by co-arranging a football cup for children.

Stig-Ove Sandnes, Managing Director at Vålerenga Fotball AS, said: “We are excited to welcome Huawei to Vålerenga as an official partner. This is the first deal we have signed with a top 100 global brand1. Huawei is a genuine leader in the field of information and communications technology and we are honored to take part of the growth and development of its rapid growing business and brand.”

“Through our partnership with Vålerenga we believe we can continue to provide innovative solutions and further strengthen our position in the Norwegian market and at the same time help Vålerenga to continue to entertain Norwegian football supporters in the years to come,” said Mr. Eric Zhang, CEO of Huawei Technologies Norway AS.

The Vålerenga partnership will include exclusive offers, content and brand presence during Vålerenga’s matches, as well as through the club’s digital and social media platforms. The agreement runs for two years, with an option to extend.
