Künzelsau. The Würth Group strengthens and expands its Electrical Wholesale Unit (W.EG). With today’s takeover of Rexel’s operations in the Baltics, Poland and Slovakia, W.EG further expands its market position in Central Europe. With 520 employees working at over 60 subsidiaries in these countries, the company generated sales of EUR 146 million in 2014.
After an acquisition in the Czech Republic and the expansion to the Italian market within the framework of a strategic partnership, this is already the third expansion of W.EG’s business activities in the past twelve months. The current transaction strengthens the position of Würth’s Electrical Wholesale Unit, which is already operating in eight European markets. The Electrical Wholesale Unit of the Würth Group is one of the leading wholesalers on the European mainland. In 2014, the Electrical Wholesale Unit reported a sales volume of one billion euros for the first time in the company’s history. Preliminary figures for 2015 indicate above-average organic growth in the existing business units which brings sales including acquisitions close to EUR 1.2 billion. This corresponds to approximately ten percent of the total sales volume generated in the Würth Group.
